Special Moments with Boo

Every girl knows of the special bond between Daddy's and their little girls but until you see your husband holding your precious baby girl you have no idea what that means to your heart. Papa brings an instant smile to Boo's face and they love to play together, hang out together and take pictures together... oh and Boo likes to share whatever Papa is eating... I don't know how he feels about that though.

"Send me an angel... woo.. ooo.. ooo.. right now" In prep for her first Halloween we had to try the "costume" that we got her. So precious!!! She looks just like a little angel and she holds that place in my heart. Some of the stuff they sell right now is just so sweet, it almost hurts;)

Boo's first messy food experiences. It started with Spaghetti for dinner. She liked that well enough but did not make nearly the mess or get nearly as excited as she did about the Tuna Shells & Cheese. Boo loved it, and her face loved it, and her fingers, and tray, and Chibi too. We had loads of fun watching her experience new things.

Now that Boo is more mobile she love to go over to her toy/book shelf and help herself to books. It's really kind of funny. I expected her to go over there and pull out every book and toy she can get her hands on but she doesn't. Actually she will pull 2 books and then sit down trying to figure out how to get them open. Or maybe 2 toys and play with them. It is so sweet and I usually end up sitting there with her and reading the books.

My wild child!!! A party waiting to happen. Boo loves her new walker/stroller. She will tootle all around the living room and into the bedrooms. However, she can't turn the thing so she goes forward until she gets stuck and then starts calling for help or clapping her hands. But either way, she loves to "walk". She even grabbed a hold of the laundry basket the other day and was using it as a walker. All we know is that this garage sale find was about the best $5 we've spent yet.

Boo's Church Only Book

Every Sunday we trade our living room play area for the one located in the Chapel "cry room". So after staying home one Sunday I decided to take a week and make Boo a "Sensory" book to entertain her during Church. For all those who asked here are the pics of the finished book. For all of you who may be wondering if it worked... well we took it last Sunday and the front (not pictured here because I ran out of picture room), the butterflies and the flower buttons did the trick. It did not entertain her the entire time but she did make it through most of the sermon. Right after the service we put it away and we (or should I say I) will try it again this Sunday.

Random Tid-Bits From The Week

I had been wanting to get a picture of it on this blog... yes that is my new sewing machine. I have been having a lot of fun this week using it to make some gifts for a couple of special people.

The latest with Boo is that she is cruising!!! Watch out remote, Bible, paper, or anything else that is left on the couch, chair or hanging off the table because it is now within her reach.

Oink. Oink. I was showing one of my friends the Big Top Cupcake pan I got for Boo's birthday and she keyed in on the cupcake make in the likeness of a pig. So since it was her birthday I thought I would do a trial run with the pan and surprise her with a pig. She liked it but after a while she said it just gave her flashbacks to the Lord of the Flies. I guess that means I was successful:)

Today was family day. This time we decided to drive to Pensacola and visit the Naval Air Museum. Boo got to sit in the cockpit of a plane and Papa even showed her how to use the joy stick and press buttons. Good times for Boo.

Meanwhile Papa took a TON of pictures of random planes, none of which are shown here because I would run out of space:) But I had to get a picture of him by the cannon.

All and all we had a great day today. We strolled around the Museum, knowing we will be back, stopped for lunch at McGuires, and enjoyed a nice evening walk with a short stop at the park so Boo could swing. It made for a great family day.

Boo's News

Hey A. Katie... I love my Koala:) I drag him all over the house. He likes to explore the kitchen with me. But our favorite thing to do together is to torment Chibi until she bites Koala and then Mama yells at her. Tehe:) Fun Stuff.

Mama said that when she was little she loved riding in the laundry basket so of course I had to try it. It's okay but I think Mama and Papa enjoy pulling me around in it so I'll just sit here and let them be amused.

I got my first tooth!!! Mama was so excited she went out and bought me a toothbrush and some special tooth paste. My toothbrush is pink and she put the yummy fruit paste on it and let me brush my tooth. I really just chewed on it but it was so fun. Hopefully she will let me "brush my tooth" again soon. I mean, I do have 3 that have broken through now.

Ugggg, sometimes Mama takes so long to get in to my room when I wake up. So a couple of days ago I just thought I would stand up and help her get me out, one less thing she has to do when she comes in here. Mama was so excited, she looked around like it was a joke and then told me I am such a big girl and gave me a big hug. I loved it, so now I stand all the time. Even sometimes when I'm suppose to be taking a nap but Mama doesn't seem happy about that.

I have been watching Mama and Papa eat some really yummy looking stuff over the past few months and finally I'm getting to try some of it. This morning Mama gave me some cut up Banana's and Cheerios. I didn't like the bananas but you can give me some more Cheerios any time.

No!

Boo is definitely a wonder to watch and joy to watch grow. She is my curious little explorer and can't get enough of discovering the world around her (aka the house). Chibi continues to be her favorite toy and her best friend and the one most able to make her laugh. I love watching the two of them together!!!
Most recently Boo has learned to shake her head "No". It is very funny to us because she has no idea what she is doing!!! It is just novel to her because she has learned a new movement that obviously makes Mama & Papa smile and crack up laughing. She has also started to consistently wave bye-bye when someone leaves:) Too cute. Of course I would post videos of this cuteness if I could figure out how to make this blasted thing take my videos!!! But alas, pictures won't do it justice so I will just have to write it out and you can imaging the cuteness in your mind.

As for the pictures....

A few more worth sharing from our trips: Our family picture by the shark at the "Sponge Capital of the Country" near Tampa, FL. My husband on a mission to decrease the Black Bird population. And finally the guys and their beer tour samples. I went along to be the DD:) Tehe.

Is anyone out there?

Is anyone out there? Well that is what I titled this two days ago when I started it because I wasn't sure that anyone was still checking the blog since it had been so long since I posted. I suppose if I had any questions they were answered by a few people on face book:) So all the fans of Boo out there here is the start of the picture extravaganza....

A chip off the ol cheese block. Boo got her first taste of cheese when we went to Kady Cheese Factory. She wasn't a fan of the "hat" but loved sitting on and playing with the cheese block. Oh she also wasn't much into the cheese this time but since Mama and Papa are cheeseaholics I'm sure it will grow on her.

4 generations of Lokkens. Little Boo got to meet her Great Grandma Lokken and she was very fond of her. Well I think that went both ways G. Grandma enjoyed watching Boo's shinanigans. We miss G. Grandma a lot and cherished the time with her. Papa even took her on a long car ride and had a wonderful visit.

What do I say here? Boo and her cousin love to play together. Each morning they would wake up looking for each other and then just smile from ear to ear when they saw one another. They were instant BFF's. They played together, "talked" to each other, shared wonderfully and well there are just not enought words to describe all this cuteness.

We went home because my cousin was getting married and Boo really wanted to dance with the Groom. She was so fond of him. She just looked at him and smiled:) I don't know, I think he is a natural so I can't wait to see some 2nd cousins in the near future:)

Yah!!!! Mama what happened to my feet? One minute, there I was reaching for some toes and the next thing I know there are these white things that taste nothing like toes!!!! Where did they go? How am I suppose to walk, entertain myself, or comando crawl with no toes? - Boo.

Random Tid-Bits

Well I finally learned to use my sewing machine and completed one of my first projects. Boo loves her soothie that I bought from a craft fair so I decided she should have at least one back up. I couldn't find the same material so I went with giraffe print and pink satin. It is so soft and silky that even I love to touch it. Boo loves it and really likes to suck on the "tags".

Papa decided that each week we should have a family day. Great idea Papa. Last week it was soooooo hot that we decided to stay inside. That is except for a trip to the mall so we could take Boo on her first Marry-go-Round ride. She loved it. Well, maybe I should say she loved the bear that was moving up and down next to her. This was the only picture I could get of her looking this way and it was before it started moving. Oh well.

Eat your heart out Grandpa B. Mama said she bought this outfit just for you and she said that I'm wearing it because I'm a Floridian:) - Boo

"Okay Rosco would you like one lump or two?" Grandma L. got Boo this little tea set for Christmas and it has become one of her favorite toys. She usually just bangs it around and tries to get it to play music but a couple of days ago I peeked in on her having a regular tea party with Rosco. Too cute:)

And of course Chibi is still Boo's BFF. She hasn't quite figured out how to get the ears and tail into the mouth, thank goodness. We are definitely having to watch them closer these days because Boo is getting a better grip on Chibi's ears and Chibi is not so appreciative of that. However, they get along famously when Boo has just finished eating and Chibi can power clean her face. Yuck!!!! But it makes them happy.

This Nut Didn't Fall Far From the Tree

Boo has hit happy baby stage and with that we have started to see more of her little personality coming through. Aside from being chatty and social, just like her Mama, she also loves her Papa's hats and the camera. I suppose this will just be the first of many Boo in hats photos if she continues to be anything like her Mama.
We are having so much fun right now and she continues to get more and more mobile in her never ending quest to get a hold of Chibi. Today she rolled across the living room all the way to the couch just to get the doggie. Right now it takes a while so Chibi still has a chance but, watch out Chibi, she is quickly closing ground between you.

Mama's little helper

Yep that's me, Boo. Mama says that she has been very busy lately but I really wanted her to get these picture of my fun time in Omaha posted so I said I would do them for her:)

Grandma B. and I love snuggle time and sweet kisses. Every time I see her she snuggles me right up and gives me tiny little kisses. I LOVE IT!!!! She also loves to take picture of me for her special scrapbooks. Not sure what that means but if it has anything to do with paper I'm sure I'd love to eat it.

This is me and my cousin Kenley totally mesmerized (I know a big word for a 7 month old) with Grandpa's phone. He was showing us the "Gummy Bear Video". Mama is still curious about what exactly that is but don't worry Grandpa that's between the 3 of us... *wink*wink*.

Yippee lets clap for Grandpa. He lets me sit on his lap, play with his buttons, (and his phone), and he just seems happy when I am around. Mama and Papa say he is very smitten with me and that we have a very special relationship. Mama says she has visions of Grandpa spoiling me a lot in the future. Whatever Mama says, Grandpa, I say bring it on:)

Mama tells me about A. Kimmie, U. Clay and Kenley all the time. It was so fun to actually get snuggles from A. Kimmie & U. Clay again and to finally get to play in person with my cousin. Mama and I play by watching the video's of Kenley but she is a bit more fun in person. I say a bit because I kept talking to (at) her but she didn't say much. So I tried grabbing her and playing footsie with her but Mama says she doesn't like to talk as much as we do. I guess she takes after Grandpa and U. Clay. Or maybe she just hasn't had enough time to work up stuff to say. Hmmmm. I guess I'll try to chat with her a little more in July. Maybe then we can talk and pull each others clothes or something. Good Times.

Beach Baby

Finally we made it to the beach. After driving by several times we found a private beach, payed our $2 for parking and had a blast with Boo. At first she wasn't real excited about going in the water. I think it was a bit chilly for her little feet. However, once Mama and Papa got in and turned her around so she could see what was going on she loved it. Papa kept letting her "swim" and Mama bobbed up and down with her as the waves came and went.

We hung out under our umbrella on our beach blanket and had a great day. We are now inspired to make this an every other week event... well as long as we can. We had such a nice and relaxing time on the beautiful beach just having family time.

We do need some sunglasses for Boo. Above is some toddler sunglasses we found at Old Navy. A little big but too cute!!!!

A Busy Week...

Taking Kimmie's advice I have decided to start blogging again right where I'm at. This week I had a bunch of random thoughts so here we go.

No amount of the 2 year old scream can erase the sweet image of my angel sleeping. And just in case Mama was have a really bad day, the "I fell asleep praying" pose is enough to fall in love all over again and forget any other inconvenience as well... heck this pose could even get Papa out of the dog house:)

It's official we have switched over to cloth diapers. I love the colors and that they can match up with Boo's outfits. I love that we make less waste (kind of), and I have been pleasantly surprised that it hasn't caused that much more work. However, we do now have a permanent drying rack taking up residence in the guest room.

Notice anything different about me? Yep if you look closely those are tiny little shinys in my ears.

We took Boo to get her ears pierced this weekend. The lady who did it said "Don't worry they don't cry too much when we do it". And she was right, she didn't cry long. But she did cry LOUD!!! Loud enough for the mall goers to stop and look at us like we deserved the "Worst Parents in the World Award". However, we got home and now we touch, turn, and lay on them with no tears:)

"In the house and on the street, how many different feet you meet!" Dr Seuss. I love Boo's little feet. During my last trip to Target I was actually able to fit those tiny feet into NB (Newborn) shoes. Yes my 6 month old has ity-bity feet. So just for laughs we thought we would size them up to Papa's big dogs. I think this has to be one of my favorite pictures. Not to mention the big smiles at Papa as we are taking this picture.

WARNING NERD MOMENT!!: Due to the laws of refraction, when you look at an object in water they appear larger than they actually are. So what law is it that makes furniture look so much smaller in the store compared to in your home?

In anticipation of Boo beginning to pull herself up, and trying to avoid any incidences with the bookshelves, we decided to get some "more sturdy" furniture. We settled on this wall unit, which we love. It serves our purposes, we have room to grow and it is definitely sturdy. However, it really does look bigger in our home than it the store. Oh well some day we had to trade in our IKEA mismatch stuff for "grown up furniture" right?

We also got a recliner but it was so much bigger than in the store that my feel couldn't touch the ground. That one went back and we are waiting on the new one to come in. There is just something wrong about leaving my job, living in Florida and buying a recliner, I didn't expect to do all this for at least another 20-30 years:)

Peek A Boo

Now that Boo can roll over on her tummy she has also discovered that she can pull down the bumper in her crib and play Peek-A-Boo.

Maybe we shouldn't, but it is too cute not to encourage her to play. So Papa and I sit on the floor and move the bumper up and down to peek-a-boo with her:) Tehe.

This only backfires when we are trying to get her to take a nap and she keeps trying to look over the bumper and pull it down to see if we're really just playing.

She has definitely entered the perma smile "happy baby" mode so, unless you are a big barking dog or Mama putting her down for a nap, she is all smiles and giggles. So fun!!!!
